What a fabulous day for the students and families at Firth!! Yesterday we held our hangi. The MPR covered area was full of adults and children from 7.30 in the morning - peeling, cleaning, laughing and enjoying each others company. The men on the field were busy preparing the fire, hot stones and hangi pit. In the kitchen mixing bowls were full of Maori bread ingredients - and then the frying began!! In the later part of the afternoon the huge team were still at it - still preparing and smiling. Then it was time to lift the hangi - and the team began putting the delicious food into the foil containers ready for parents to come and pick up for their dinner. 240 meals were prepared. What a magnificent effort. Kai pai everyone for your enthusiasm and effort.
