Today Rooms 1 and 4 set off on an adventure: to visit Pippins Orchard and learn more about the delicious fruit and vegetables we eat to keep our bodies growing and healthy. Along with our wonderful Mums, Dads and helpers we walked for 30 minutes (good exercise!) and arrived ready to learn. Amy and Mr Broomhall talked to us about the produce they grow themselves, and other fruit and veg they sell in their shop. We discovered there are lots of different shapes and colours, especially the pears and apples. Then we went outside to look at the trees. There were lots of bright, shiny red apples on the trees. Mr Broomhall showed us how he picks them from a 3 footed ladder and then the motorised, yellow lifter. We were allowed to pick our own apple (push up and twist so that the stalk stays on it) and eat it - yum, yum, yum - sweet and juicy!!! Then it was time to walk back to school, with a little stop on the way for a picnic drink.
We had a fabulous morning and learned lots.
