On Friday Brett (Mrs J's son) came back to NZ from his boat trip. We rang him up on the speaker phone and asked him about his trip. It was exciting talking to him because we had been reading his emails and watching the photos on the web site and now we can ask him what it was like.
"What have you been doing?" (I have been on a sailing boat called 'Tara' doing science research about what things live in the sea.)
"Was it very hot?" (It sure was. The air was hot all the time and I had to drink lots and lots of water every day because I kept sweating it out of my body.)
"How was it on the boat?" (The boat was quite small compared to the ship I usually go on. There were 12 of us on it and there wasnt a lot of room.)
"Was it cold when you swam in the water?" (It was lovely and I could stay in the water for a long time without getting cold. It was a bit like a luke warm bath.)
"Where did you go?" (We went from Tahiti to Hawaii which is way out in the Pacific Ocean. All you could see was sea everywhere. We stopped a some islands along the way. I know you have looked at the map and can see that it is a long way from NZ.)
"Was it fun?" (It was heaps of fun. I was very lucky to be able to meet people from all over the world and do things that most people don't get to do.)
"What did you eat on the boat?" (Lots of fish and rice - its just as well I like fish and rice!)
"We looked at your photo on the laptop" (Wow - did you see me waving to you?)
"We laughed when you said that the toilet was little" (Ha ha - it would have been just right for you guys but it was pretty tricky for big people like me to use.)
"We are excited that you have come back" (So am I. Its good to be able to talk to people in my own language and tonight I will be able to sleep in a real bed and have a proper shower with lots of warm water.)
