That is the question!!
A very interesting afternoon was spent yesterday learning about sugar in drinks. Did you know the following information?
Everyday drinks: water and milk. These rehydrate us. Use low fat milks (green or light blue tops). Milk provides calcium for our bones and teeth.
Sometimes drinks: Just Juice
H2Go - flavoured water - 5 tsp sugar per bottle
Flavoured milk - 7 tsp sugar per packet
Hardly ever drinks: Raro - has colouring and 4 tsp sugar per glass!!
Coke - 16 tsp sugar per 600 ml bottle
Coke - 10 tsp sugar per can
E2 fruit drink - 20 tsp sugar per bottle
Fanta/ Sprite/ L&P etc - same as Coke
Never drinks: Powerade - 14 tsp sugar per bottle - for elite sportspeople only!
V - 7 tsp sugar plus caffine - SMALL bottle!!
Mother - 13 tsp sugar plus caffine!
Juice drinks - look at the label - 'Fruit Juice" has juice in it
'Juice Drink" is mainly sugar and water
Diet Coke has artificial sugar and caffine
Coke Zero has no sugar but does have caffine.
1.5 litre fizzy drinks - 32 tsp sugar
Caffine makes the heart beat faster - not good for us.
This is very sobering reading!!!!
