Pigeons

Mr Simonsen came to visit us with his homing pigeons,  We got to hold them and look at their feathers. He takes them to Stewart Island to let them fly all the way back to Putaruru.  They have a little tag on their leg and this records the time they arrive back at his loft.  When we had learned about the pigeons he let them go.  They went in a circle to get their bearings, and then they flew off home.  They would get there faster than a car could drive and would be waiting for Mr Simonsen when he got home.
