Our assembly item to commemorate ANZAC Day was stunning. Using a mixture of readings, songs, tableaus and acting we presented an overview of WW1. Timed to perfection, Maddy read with music softly in the background, followed by the whole class singing popular war songs. We ended with the ode and the placing of poppies on the monument. The hall was packed with children and parents who were moved to tears (well, some of them - especially the Mums!). Mr E didn't know what to do with the 'dead bodies' who were left on stage after everyone else had trudged or crawled back to their seats. Did you know that for every 4 NZ'ers who went to WW1, 1 died and 2 were injured?
Well done everyone!!
